So, my feathered friend waits
at the half-frozen pond
Near the black rod iron gates
We have an unspoken bond

On this 10th day of December
he chose to come explore
All the times he's been here before,
I wonder if he remembers?
It was just days ago
Though it is still cold,
we had our first snow
In, the Arctic Blast rolled
Now, time winds down till Christmas
Brightly decorated yards
Red cheeks, chapped lips, the briskness
Shopping, presents, sending cards
The egret has other plans
He needs to fill his reserves
His infinite patience spans
Beaking tasty fish hors d'oeuvres

Well done, good for you, eat up
Thanks for the awesome photos
Nodding, I raise my teacup
You and I've got more poems to compose
