Sad Poetry
Mom, Dad
I'm sorry for what I did
I didn't become a doctor
No teacher in the common sense
I've always loved words
And they loved me
Came to me
And sought my company
It's more than I could expect
Since all the people I have known
Turned away from me
Because of my language
They would say
"Words can hurt -
You hurt me.
Watch your language!"
I never knew what that meant
But I found proof of it
In my loneliness
I did it on behalf of the words
Mom, Dad
I'm sorry for what I did
I didn't become a doctor
No teacher in the common sense
I've always loved words
And they loved me
Came to me
And sought my company
It's more than I could expect
Since all the people I have known
Turned away from me
Because of my language
They would say
"Words can hurt -
You hurt me.
Watch your language!"
I never knew what that meant
But I found proof of it
In my loneliness
I did it on behalf of the words
