In this quiet room
I stand before no jury, no department
No charges to present
No need for unraveling or lament
But for the sake of honoring
And gently documenting
As you may not have witnessed at all
There was no fracture, no fall
No fevered plea of insanity
Just a slow return to humanity
You see, the pendulum rests
For once, it forgets to swing
And the calm it brings
Lets even the guarded heart sing
Lovers spend years bracing for the break
Expecting fault lines in every ache
But somehow we built what did not collapse
No hidden traps
No maps drawn in fear of relapse
We didn’t wish on comets
Didn’t beg fate to align
We stood in the daylight
And still chose to shine
And in one quiet moment,
we built up the whole sky.
Spring didn’t crash through the glass unannounced
It lingered, it settled, it softly renounced
Every ghost that had sworn it would stay
Every echo that once led me astray
No rescuer came with a trembling sword
No savior I felt I had to reward
Just hands that were steady
And eyes that were ready
To see all of me
And not turn away
He didn’t conquer, didn’t claim
Didn’t reduce me to something tame
He learned the language beneath my skin
And stayed long enough to let me in
«In summation, this was not a love affair, but something rare.»
I’d say without raising my voice from the chair
No frenzy, no damage, no need to defend
Just something that chose not to end
And so I enter into memory
Not as evidence, not as defense
No armor laid out for inspection
No history sharpened into sense
No muses mistaken for bruises
No poetry born just to bleed
No relics of war dressed as longing
No hunger disguised as a need
No ticking of bombs dressed as romance
No ink pulled from bitterness’ well
Just quiet, unremarkable moments
That somehow learned how to swell
Not all love arrives like a warning
Not all of it asks to be named
Some of it grows in the open
And never once needed to be tamed
All’s fair in love and poetry -
But this was neither a fight nor a plea
Just something that stayed when it could have run
And chose, every day, to just be
Sincerely,
Someone who didn’t burn to be known
But was seen -
And, for once, not undone
